Full Professor, ETH Zürich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology)
Göran Andersson obtained his M.S. (1975) and Ph.D. (1980) degrees from University of Lund, Sweden. In 1980 he joined ASEA’s, now ABB’s, HVDC division in Ludvika, Sweden, and in 1986 he was appointed full professor in electric power systems at KTH (Royal Institute of Technology), Stockholm, Sweden. Since 2000 he is full professor in electric power systems at ETH Zürich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology). His research interests include power system dynamics, control and operation, power markets, and future energy systems.
Göran Andersson is Fellow of IEEE, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, and foreign member of the US National Academy of Engineering. He was the recipient of the 2007 IEEE PES Outstanding Power Educator Award, the 2010 George Montefiore International Award 2010, and the 2016 IEEE PES Prabha S. Kundur Power System Dynamics and Control Award.
Full Professor, Faculty of Engineering of Porto University
João A. Peças Lopes (PhD) is Full Professor (Professor Catedrático) at the Faculty of Engineering of Porto University, where he teaches in the graduation and post-graduation areas. He is presently member of board of the Direction of INESC Porto. Prof. Peças Lopes was responsible by INESC Porto activities in several EU financed research projects, namely the project - MICROGRIDS - Large Scale Integration of Micro Generation to Low Voltage Grids and MORE_MICROGRIDS - Advanced Architectures and Control Concepts for More Microgrids and MERGE - Mobile Energy Resources for Grids of Electricity.
He supervised several consulting projects related with the impact analysis of the connection of wind parks in the electrical grids of Madeira, Azores, Sal, S. Vicente and S. Tiago, in the Republic of Cabo Verde. He was the responsible for several consultancy projects related with the electrical grid impact resulting from the connection of large wind parks in Portugal.
He was also responsible for the definition of technical rules for the integration of wind power in Brazil. He coordinated also consultancy studies for the Hungarian Regulator regarding the evaluation of the integration of wind power in Hungary. He coordinates the participation of INESC Porto in the InovGrid project.
He was also the Chair of the Selection Committee of the public tender that decided about the integration of 1800 MW of wind generation in Portugal, launched by the Portuguese government in 2005.
Prof. Peças Lopes is Fellow of the IEEE PE, a former member of the Executive board of the EES/UETP consortium and Chair of its course program committee and, for more than 4 years, one of the coordinators of INESC Porto Power System Unit.
His main domains of research are presently related with large scale integration of renewable power sources in power systems (namely wind generation), power system dynamics, microgrids, smart metering and integration of electric vehicles in electrical grids.
Chief Executive Officer, Siemens Portugal
Pedro Pires de Miranda is the Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Portugal and President of the Board of Siemens Angola, overseeing business in Siemens Mozambique, Cape Verde and São Tomé e Príncipe, since October 2016.
Born 1958, in Lisbon, Portugal, holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, USA. Attended Executive Management programs at Harvard Business School and Universidade Nova de Lisboa, the Engineering Management course at Krannert Business School, USA, and the Industrial Engineering program at REFA Institut, Germany.
Began his career at General Motors Corporation and joined Siemens in 1983 as Director of Production Engineering. Further occupied several executive positions in Siemens, and in 2008 became Corporate Vice President of Siemens AG and Head of Corporate Development Siemens One at the Munich Headquarters. In 2012 became Head of the Global Center of Competence Cities in London, overseeing business in Europe, Americas and Asia Pacific Regions.
In 2014, the Republic of Portugal President honored him with the Order of Merit (Industry) in the rank of Grand Officer.
Chief Executive Officer, EFACEC
Angelo Ramalho is the CEO of EFACEC since 2015. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto with post-graduation studies from INSEAD (Advanced Management Seminar), AESE Business School and The College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Oxford.
From 2006 to 2015 he served on the Board of Directors of Alstom Portugal acting as President where he was responsible for business development, technology, product and service solutions for power generation, thermal and renewables, power grid and rail infrastructures.
From 1995 to 21015 Ângelo worked in the gas sector: General Manager of Galp Energia LPG (LPG storage, distribution and commercialization in Iberia), CEO of Lisboagás (natural gas distribution and commercialization in Lisboa region), Managing Director of Galp Power, CEO of Lusitaniagás (natural gas distribution and commercialization in the littoral centre region of Portugal) Commercial Director of GDP Distribuição, Commercial Director of Lusitaniagás and Area Manager of Shell Portuguesa.
He is a member of the Advisory Board of aicep Portugal Global and advisor of the IDD, Conselho Consultivo para a Economia da Defesa and of the Portuguese-French Chamber for Trade and Industry.
Ângelo is a Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Merite de la Republique Française.
